Jack is Back: Former Michael Kors CEO Running for Treasurer
The former CEO of Michael Kors is making a special announcement this fashion week — he’s running for state treasurer.
Republican Jack Orchulli announced he plans to run for treasurer in an emailed press release Sunday afternoon, and said he would make a public announcement by Monday evening.
“For too long we’ve elected individuals to Treasurer in Connecticut that don’t have the real world experience necessary to put our state back on the right track. Rising debt, unfunded pensions and fiscal disarray plague us and dampen our ability to create the jobs necessary to put us back on top. I will bring common sense and fiscal responsibility back to Hartford and work tirelessly to point us in the right direction,” Orchulli said in his press release.
Orchulli previously ran and lost as a Republican against incumbent Democrat Sen. Chris Dodd and more recently to Comptroller Kevin Lembo. But his new campaign website says "Jack is Back."
Trumbull First Selectman Tim Herbst has already announced he plans to run for the seat as a Republican. Democratic Denise Nappier is running for her firth term as treasurer.
Orchulli, who now lives in Darien, helped create the brand of Michael Kors in 1981. His latest campaign filing shows he received over $4,300 in donations.Jack is Back: Former Michael Kors CEO Running for Treasurer
