Mark Boughton's Fundraising Plan to Defeat Malloy: 'The same way you eat a whale'
Danbury Mayor Mark Boughton's newest fundraiser will feature a lesson on how to eat large sea mammals.
Not really, but this is an actual line from a fundraising email the gubernatorial hopeful sent out -- explaining his campaign strategy for defeating Gov. Dannel P. Malloy.
"The same way you eat a whale - one bite at a time."
Boughton is one of six Republicans running against Malloy, who hasn't yet announced if he's running for re-election.
Boughton says Malloy and the state's Democratic Party are raising money for the party by "squeezing all the people that benefit from Mr. Malloy occupying the governor's office, like businesses that get state contracts, the executives of companies receiving state grants and tax breaks, and other industry groups that benefit from state funds."
So to beat that strategy, Boughton makes his whale reference and asks for donations from "normal people to help me raise money in little bites."
