Spring is springing and fun events happening all over the state. Here are two coming up this week in Westport. May 2, there’s the Taste of Westport at the Westport Inn, from 6-9 p.m. For $75, guests can sample an array of culinary treats from some of the area’s best dining establishments, and sip wine and cocktails, while bidding on silent auction items. For $75 ($85 at the door), you get a fun evening, and all monies go to CLASP Homes, a local not-for-profit serving people with autism and related developmental disabilities. Participating restaurants and shops include DaPietro, Rizzuto’s, Pane e Bene, Matsu Sushi, Blue Lemon, Dressing Room, Michelle’s Pies and many others.
The next day it’s time for the annual Near & Far Aid Designer House Tour. The day kicks off with a Designer Breakfast at the Patterson Club in Fairfield, featuring renowned California-based designer Mary McDonald, who’s consistently been ranked one of House Beautiful’s “Top 100 Designers.” Then comes the tour of five exceptional homes in Westport, Southport and Greenfield Hill in Fairfield. The day culminates with a 6:30 “Toast the Tour” cocktail reception at a “lovely up-country estate abutting bridle trails and open fields.” Tickets for all or part of the day’s events are available at nearandfaraid.org.
Near & Far Aid is an all-volunteer fundraising and fund-granting organization dedicated to “eliminating the causes and effects of poverty in Fairfield County.” The organization also holds a Spring Gala at Mitchells every year in March, and a Golf Classic in September.Westport Twofer
