Fashionista Alert: Two Tibi Trunk Shows This Week
If you haven’t tried Tibi on for size by now, this is your chance. The upscale retailer is having two trunk shows this week at Steven Alan stores in Greenwich (Thurs., Sept. 26, 3 to 8) and Westport (Sat., Sept. 28, 10 to 6).
Designer Amy Smilovic, now a Greenwich resident, started the label in 1997 in Hong Kong with one collection of four styles. The label’s current portfolio includes 11 ready-to-wear collections a year covering the key elements of a versatile wardrobe: “Clean and relaxed separates and iconic pieces that express a unique design perspective on the season.”
Smilovic’s aesthetic is sporty and pragmatic. “Women should dress in a way that is effortless but polished. . . . “I now design for myself more than ever,” she says. I want to wear every piece in the collection.”
Tibi fashions are available in over 600 upscale department and specialty stores including Bergdorf Goodman, Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus, Bloomingdale’s and Harrods. Its flagship boutique opened in 2006 is in Soho.
“I love seeing someone’s personality come to life through their wardrobe choices,” Smilovic says. “Contradictions in those choices also make my life interesting: youthful and sophisticated, masculine and feminine, bold and muted.”
In Connecticut, Tibi can be found at Erica K in Darien, Silk Worm in Essex, Mitchells/Richards in Greenwich, Togs in New Canaan and Lucy’s in Westport and Ridgefield, in addition to Steven Alan.
