We love a great roast beef sandwich; we also love the U.S. of A. And when you can cover two loves with one bite, it’s hard to pass up. Enter the roast beef sandwich at Vinny’s Deli in Wallingford, a.k.a. “The King of Roast Beef.” For a claim that bold, you would hope the sandwich is something special. The good news is that in this case, it is—a moist, tender, flavorful delight, due in large part to a single-minded dedication to creating arguably the best roast beef sandwich in the state. “It’s all we do,” says Vinny Iannuzzi, who has been running his eponymous deli—which has an enormous roast beef sandwich sculpture across its front—for 33 years. “No dinner, no slushie machines.
