Match Restaurant in South Norwalk, owned by Chef Matt Storch will temporarily close March 2 for renovations, and our content sharing partners at CTbites are helping to get the word out about some special events to take advantage of before Match goes dark.
In our Connecticut Magazine Readers' Choice Restaurant Awards in 2010, Match earned honors in the following categories: Best Overall Restaurant, Best Service in Fairfield County and Best Appetizers in the State. The strong showing followed other similar awards earlier in the 2000s, and Match's seared wasabi and sesame-rubbed tuna dish checked in at #7 in our May 2009 feature "50 Dishes to Try Before You Die," in which we said: This memorable and very popular opener includes coconut sticky-rice cake, sweet soy, avocado crema, watercress and spicy saracha, [and] a Thai hot sauce.
So we know first-hand how good Match is. Below is the CTbites story inviting all to help give Match a great sendoff into the realm of renovations. And here's a link to Match's email announcment of the events, some of which have passed at this point. There are still two Burger Nights left, though, and the big Closing Cocktail Party. See below, go and enjoy:

A 15-year veteran of the Connecticut dining scene and SoNo restaurant pioneer, Match is planning a series of special events to mark the end of an era and the beginning of a new one. Chef/owner Storch is keeping his plans for Match 2.0 under tight wraps, but says, “it’s everything you know and love about Match but better. This is a rebirth.”

WHEN: Match will close temporarily on March 2,  a series of special events will run throughout the February, including:

  • Valentines Day/Weekend: Celebrate one of CT’s most romantic spot Friday, Saturday & Sunday (with half-priced wines on Sunday). Reservations limited

  • Burger Night: 3 chances left to say a proper goodbye to a gorgeous burger. Save the date: Feb 13, 20, 27

  • Closing Cocktail Party: Industry insiders, friends, and customers are invited to bid adieu to an old friend on February 28. Details to come.

WHERE: Match is located at 98 Washington Street in South Norwalk, CT. Reservations via matchsono.com/opentable.html
