“I’ll give you a winter prediction: It’s gonna be cold, it’s gonna be gray, and it’s gonna last you for the rest of your life,” says weatherman Phil Connors (in the movie “Groundhog Day.”) Hey, not so fast Phil. Word is in from Gobbler’s Knob. Penn.‚ Punxsutawney Phil (the famous groundhog) did NOT see his shadow. So according to this Phil, spring will be here early! Connecticut’s own official groundhog Chuckles, who resides at the Lutz Children’s Museum in Manchester, concurs—he didn’t see his shadow, either.
According to the Punxsutawney Groundhog Club records, the groundhog has only not seen its shadow 15 times in 124 years. It’s inevitable—the deep freeze will become the great thaw before you know it.
