For “lots of good fun that is funny,” check out The Art of Dr. Seuss at the University of Connecticut’s Benton Museum of Art in Storrs through Aug. 7. The retrospective features rare original works by Theodore Geisel (aka Dr. Seuss), including early sketches of The Cat in the Hat and Horton the Elephant, as well as published illustrations, political cartoons, drawings, sculpture and paintings spanning Geisel’s career.
The collection includes some of Geisel's earliest sketches of his iconic characters, and shows how they evolved during his lifetime. The Art of Dr. Seuss brings together loans from private collections and Animazing Gallery in New York.
Admission is free. For info, call (860) 486-4520 or visit thebenton.org.
