Rizzuto's Celebrates Summer Bounty

 

Rizzuto’s Wood-Fired Kitchen and Bar in West Hartford is the latest restaurant to climb aboard the farm-dining bandwagon. On Wednesday, Aug. 31, the restaurant will join with Urban Oaks Organic Farm in New Britain to present a “Harvest Supper” on the farm they describe as “an elegant evening on a grassy lawn under the stars.”

Rizzuto’s Executive Chef Tony Camilleri has planned a five-course feast, with wine pairings, that promises to be a celebration of summer bounty—with 90 percent of the produce plucked only steps away a few hours earlier. Guests can explore a bit at the 6:30 cocktail reception, while enjoying passed hors d’oeuvres such as grilled asparagus with duck prosciutto and fresh figs with Gorgonzola. Then, at 7, they take their seats under a big tent amid wildflowers and wafting music from a jazz trio. Chef Camilleri’s menu will include a sparkling-fresh salad of baby lettuces and petite summer vegetables, pork belly confit with stone-fruit mostarda, sea scallops with braised fennel and caramelized orange vinaigrette, and natural-beef rib-eye two ways. The dinner winds up with local artisan cheeses, lemon chiffon cake and watermelon prosecco shooters.
