The Reign of Spain Continues

The reign of Spain’s modern cuisine continues to play out delightfully in Connecticut, most recently with a new addition in East Haven called Bistro Mediterranean & Tapas Bar. Tapas by the dozen are priced under $10. All the old familiars are there: codfish croquettes, sautéed artichoke hearts, roasted stuffed red piquillo peppers. Also on the menu are ensaladas, pastas and main dishes including paella Valenciana, pollo rostisado (free-range, roasted half chicken served over mashed potatoes and vegetables in a spicy sausage and rosemary sauce) and salmon a la plancha. It’s even possible to raise a glass of white or red wine for $5. We’ll drink to that!

Bistro Mediterranean got the paper’s highest rating (Don’t Miss) when it was reviewed by The New York Times a few months back, so we can’t wait to try it. See you there!

Open seven days a week, Monday through Thursday 11 a.m.  to 10 p.m., Friday & Saturday, 11 to 11, Sunday 12 to 10.  383 Main St., East Haven, 203/467-4300,
