Winter Warm-ups at River Tavern
The River Tavern in Chester is offering some tantalizing weeknight specials that should make it a little easier to get out of the house on blustery nights. Mondays from 4 to 6 Doug Rankin of Fountainhead Wines (Norwalk) will be on hand with tastings of authentic handmade wines from the Northwest and Europe. Owner Jonathan Rapp, meanwhile, will be cooking up delectable treats to go with the pourings.
On Wednesdays there will be free tastings of WorldWide Wine’s Crop Organic Vodka drinks made with organic tomato and organic cucumber vodkas. There will be light bites as well.
Thursday is Taco Night, with “tasty tacos at $5 a piece with half-price craft beers and delicious traditional and inventive margaritas.”
Sundays kids eat free, which River Tavern’s been doing for a while, but now there’s a pasta prix fixe that night, too, that includes a selection of pasta dishes, salad and dessert.
