Fairfield County Twofer

Here are two fun events in Fairfield County you’ll want to know about. First up, is the 2nd annual Roots, Rock & Reggae Festival at Rory’s in Darien, featuring great bands and great food, from noon to 7. The menu is Caribbean-themed, with lobster, rum punch and Red Stripe specially priced. The outdoor festival will feature music by I Anbassa, Pasofino Social Club, Anthem, Finger Sleeve and Dr. B. and the Brotherhood. Best of all, it’s for a good cause—actually two good causes—proceed go to Open Door Shelter in Norwalk and Click it for Cassie. (The latter is a charity promoting seatbelt awareness started by Tom and Anne Geary, former owners of Rory’s, who lost their daughter Cassie in a car accident police say she’d have survived had she been wearing seat belts).

In Westport it’s the 3rd Annual Mille Ferrari at Rizzuto’s in Saugatuck, from noon to 4. Rizzuto’s has teamed up with The Ferrari Club of America and Fiat to stage an afternoon of Italian food, wine and cars. Race fans can watch the Formula 1 Grand Prix du Canada live on large-screen TVs, and even take a virtual lap around the track in a GoSimRacer race-car simulator. There will be lots of gorgeous lean machines on the lot to admire—new and vintage Ferraris, Fiats and Alfa Romeos—and a GoGo-Kart track where the kids can want take a spin.  And of course there’ll be plenty of classic Italian food, including sausage-and-pepper wedges and meatball sliders grilled outside.
