Southern/German Fusion Oktoberfest
Knockwurst with collard greens? That’s right, Jeff’s Cuisine in South Norwalk, well-known for its down-home menu of fried oyster po-boys, jerk chicken and Kansas City ribs, is celebrating Oktoberfest! Thursday through Saturday nights through Nov. 11, Chef Jeff Esau is serving up bratwurst and knockwurst with sauerkraut and German mustard (so far so good) and sides of . . . jambalaya, collard greens, baked beans and cornbread. You also get a glass of German beer, all for $15.99 per person. It’s Oktoberfest with a Southern twist. The menu is a reflection of Esau’s South Carolina German heritage, and also of his restaurant’s location in South Norwalk. “Norwalk is a melting pot,” he says, “and I intend to stir it.”
On Oct. 27, you can also enjoy the "bluesy, funky music" of Mighty Like Blues along with your Oktoberfest.
