Walking the Walk

A blog called "Discover Connecticut" wouldn't be much of a blog if it didn't mention Walktober, the month-long celebration of the trails and views of The Last Green Valley in eastern Connecticut.

October, of course, offers the best conditions of the year for hiking (or paddling or biking, for that matter) and the folks in charge of Walktober have made things as easy as possible for picking your spots and your activities. It could be a walking tour of Taftville that thrills you, or a sunset foliage paddle along the Quinebaug River in Putnam. Whatever turns you on, you'll likely be able to find it among the 100 free guided hikes, walks, bikes and paddles - as well as arts and farm events - featured Oct. 1-31. The glorious month is upon us, so make your plans!
