The Friends of Hammonasset together with Liberty Bank presents the fifth Hammonasset Festival celebrating nature and honoring Native American traditions and respect for our environment through native music, dance, hands-on-demonstrations, and museum exhibits. Allan Saunders (Mohegan) will lead a Native American Opening Blessing and Smudging ceremony both days at 10:15am. Featured performers are Erin Meeches Native Nations Dance & Drumming Troupe, World Atlatl Championships, A Place Called Hope: live raptor shows, & Trout Unlimited to name a few. Vendors showcasing authentic Native crafts, art, jewelry, beadwork, pottery, woodcarvings, flutes and clothing are available for sale. The event promises to be entertaining and educational for the whole family.
