Collage and Mixed Media Moving Towards Collagraph Printmaking with Estelle Laschever
Saturdays, 12:30-4:30 p.m.
3 Week Session: April 6, 13, 20

Venture beyond the traditional approach to create imagery and discover new working methods. Collage is defined as “pasting” objects to a flat surface. Using this art form as a springboard, students will create representational and/or abstract studies while being guided in the technical aspects of collage. We will work with varied found materials to give them new life as well as paints and other “traditional” materials. We will continue to explore monotype possibilities as well as frottage and transfer line techniques all while moving towards collagraphy. Consideration will be given to both traditional and nontraditional approaches to creating imagery. Students will create collagraph plates, which provide texture and a relief surface to the overall collage, and learn how to ink and print them (without a press). Printing the plates will be demonstrated. Students may print small editions (without a press). New and returning students at all levels are welcome.
|Cost||$90 members, $120 non-members|
