MxCC is hosting a free conference, Empowerment Through Education: a Women’s Forum, on Friday, April 5, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. in Chapman Hall on the Middletown campus.
The conference will incorporate film, keynote address, and a series of workshops to help women move forward. Although it is called a women students forum, the event is open to both female and male students, as well as members from the community.
This forum is targeted to the special needs of women students, and will focus on issues related to careers, balancing work/parenting/school, wellness, essential job skills, personal finance, dressing for success, and healthy relationships.
The keynote speaker, Gina Barreca, writer, humorist, and University of Connecticut professor of English Literature and Feminist Theory, will inspire and provide best-practices for women learning and getting ahead in today’s society. A continental breakfast and lunch will be provided. The conference is free and open to the public, but registration is required. To register, visithttp://mxcc.edu/womensforum.
