Saturdays and Sundays, 11:00 am – 4:00 pm, from mid-May to mid-October. Honoring the life of Putnam resident, Gertrude Chandler Warner and celebrating her contributions to children's literature with her Boxcar Children Mysteries. This is a museum housed in a genuine New Haven Railroad Boxcar, circa 1920. Exhibits include information, pictures, documents, signed Boxcar Children Mysteries and other books by G.C.W. dating back to 1916. One end of the boxcar contains a re-creation of the living quarters of the Aldens--the boxcar children. There are exhibits depicting the many facets of Gertrude Warner's life as well as her many talents. This special day celebrates the little museum.
