Wayne Reels (Mashantucket Pequot) talks about the harvest thanksgiving – one of the many Native thanksgivings celebrated through the year. Guests can ask questions about Native Americans, as well as join the celebration of the Native round dance. Visitors learn about wild mushrooms while visiting with local mushroom farmers selling their products. In addition, Mashantucket Pequot artisans demonstrate and sell craft items. In the Gathering Space. On Saturday at 1 pm, Barrie Kavasch, Cherokee author and ethnobotanist, gives a presentation about mushrooms, and at 2 pm she leads a “hunt and find” mushroom walk. Free with Museum admissions, free to Museum members.
