History Bites Lecture Series - From Brass to Brownfields: Renewing Contaminated Land

Event Date/Time

May 2, 2013
12:00 pm until 1:00 pm

Description

At its peak during WWII, Waterbury’s manufacturing mills occupied more than two million sq. ft. and 90 buildings. In the 1970s when industry moved elsewhere, the city was left with boarded-up buildings and acres of abandoned land, known as “brownfields.” Today these sites represent opportunities for revitalization. Brownfield consultant, Arthur Bogen will discuss the brownfield situation in Waterbury and the remediation activities and redevelopment projects underway.
