Music and Readings of the Advent Season

)   On Wednesday, December 5, 2012 from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m., Our Lady of Calvary Retreat Center presents an Advent program featuring pianist Leslie Merwin and the Voices of St. Cecilia, comprised of singers from the choirs of Sacred Heart Church, East Berlin, St. Vincent Ferrer, Naugatuck, St. Thomas the Apostle, Oxford and St. Mary Magdalen Oakville.  The event will include choral anthems and piano solos reflective of the Advent season.

Leslie Merwin is the Director of Music at Sacred Heart Church.  She holds a Master of Music degree in Piano from Julliard and a License de Concert from the Ecole Normale de Musique in Paris.  She has appeared as soloist with the New Haven Symphony and in concerts throughout the United States and Europe.  She was awarded the Debussy Prize of the Alliance Francaise of New York and awards from Young Concert Artists and the Comite Roussel.  She is also a registered nurse and the Director of Nursing at Village Crest Center for Rehabilitation and Health in New Milford, CT.
