Discover Sailing with Sound Sailing Center 20th Anniversary for Fathers Day!
On Saturday, June 14th and Sunday, June 15th, from 1:00 to 5:00, Sound Sailing Center will be sponsoring a Fathers Day Benefit to celebrate their 20th Anniversary in business!
For a suggested $30 donation, Sound Sailing Center will take you for a 40-minute mini-lesson on a 23’ sailboat. With a suggested $60 donation, you can go for an hour sail on a 32-36’ sailboat. Life jackets will be provided. Light lunch is served from 1-3 overlooking Norwalk Harbor and the Long Island Sound. Swag Bags will be offered by various sailing related businesses.
Members of Sound Sailing Center will be doing the sailboat rides and collecting funds for the charities of their choice. We already have members who have offered rides to raise money for Relay for Life, Greenpeace and Pivot House Ministries.
At a wrap up party Sunday evening, from 6-8pm, Martin Van Breems will recount some of his more notable adventures, including his first single handed race, the Bermuda 1/2, where he finished 2nd and the 2000 Ostar singlehanded transatlantic race where he finished 2nd in a collision damaged boat. Somewhat akin to the Robert Redford movie; All is Lost, he battled through 8 different storms with winds at times over 60 knots while repairing his seriously damaged boat.
