Northeast Utilities Foundation Artist-in-Residence Jim Brunelle

Artist Jim Brunelle has mastered the art of clay formation by using it as an art medium for over twenty years. His current hand-formed clay sculptures and vessels capture the archaic essence of artifacts unearthed from a more primitive period in history. Jim produces his work out of his residence studio in New Britain, the Farmington Valley Arts Center, as well as the Truro Center for the Arts at Castle Hill. Aside from his work with clay, Jim’s paintings and prints have also been exhibited in Connecticut galleries and museums.

December Projects: Festive Folding
During the Holidays it is always fun to get excited and creative with gifts or tokens of appreciation. By learning the ancient art of Origami paper sculpture, students will be able to fold papers, foils and parchment into fascinating animals and objects. One’s creations could be presented as a unique holiday decoration, or flattened into an envelope and mailed as a creative and easy holiday gift.
