On Wednesday, December 12th, Greenwich area residents will be treated to a ‘pop up’ Gallery experience when C. Parker Galleries hosts a special showing of “History You Can Own” – a collection of authentic historic documents and artifacts available for purchase just in time for the holidays.
“History You Can Own” offers a rare glimpse into the past and a unique opportunity to own an authentic piece of Americana. The venture is collaboration between Seth Kaller of Seth Kaller, Inc. in White Plains, John Reznikoff of University Archives in Westport and Stephen Rockwell Desloge, owner of the six Rockwell Galleries in Fairfield County.
The Gallery will host a special reception from 6 – 8pm with guest hosts Steve Desloge of Seth Kaller and John Reznikoff. The reception will feature a selection of the nearly 100 documents and artifacts from significant historic individuals and events that can be seen throughout the year at Rockwell Art & Framing in Westport, the permanent home of “History You Can Own.”
“History You Can Own” items on display will include the miniature bust of Abraham Lincoln that Stamford Connecticut native Gutzon Borglum carried with him while sculpting Mount Rushmore, documents signed by Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln and Roosevelt, a map from 1777 of Philadelphia, a portrait of and documents by Alexander Hamilton, stock certificates signed by J.P. Morgan, John D. Rockefeller and Robert Todd Lincoln, items from Thomas Edison, and David Ben Gurion, a unique six foot long Civil War banner and, perhaps the most celebrated item, the chair that Abraham Lincoln was sitting in when he received the nomination for president. All of the items, including the chair with a price tag of $145,000, are available for purchase.
Over the last decade, C. Parker Gallery has cultivated an impressive collection of original oils created by distinguished artists. The extensive array ranges from nineteenth-century masters to rising stars who have exhibited in salons, museums, and major galleries around the world. Though the artists in the collection span nearly 100 years, they were all carefully selected for their hallmarks of the impressionist tradition so universally admired: capturing the impact of light on color and representing its fleeting impression for the eye to savor. This is the first time Tiffany Benincasa, owner of C. Parker Gallery, has secured gallery space to showcase her collection which also includes abstract and whimsical art.
Items can be viewed on www.historyyoucanown.com, on www.sethkaller.com and on www.universityarchives.com; prices range from $500 up to $1,000,000.
Whether you are seeking a unique gift for a history buff or someone who just has interest in a particular individual or event from history, you will find the opening reception for the C. Parker Gallery of interest and you may even pick up a true ‘original’ holiday gift!
The reception will take place on Wednesday, December 12th from 6 – 8pm at the C. Parker Gallery on 17 East Putnam Road in Greenwich, Connecticut. Special showings can also be arranged by appointment. For more information callTiffany Benincasa at 203-253-0934 or email email@example.com.
