I read through your recent Best of Connecticut issue and thought many of your selections most interesting, and many others right on the money....
However, I believe that you overlooked an opportunity to identify as one of the best in Connecticut as well as one of the best in the United States. It's Bloodroot, a vegetarian-vegan 14 table restaurant in Bridgeport that has been able to take every aspect of the vegetarian world and huge amounts of the vegan world and marry them both to the ethnic cultures of many dozens and dozens of people. With a changing, seasonal menu offered since 1977, there have been thousands of opportunities for foodies and good food eaters alike to experience what very few restaurants can provide on such a consistent basis. An Art form of preparation without any pretentions.
While Bloodroot as a name for a restaurant is sometimes off-putting to first-time diners, it is now so completely understood and appreciated by at least three to four generations - Bloodroot is a simply beautiful native american wild flower with healing and coloring abilities.
I hope you check it out before next year so that you can truly have a Best of Connecticut that no other state yet has.
