DR. BRIAN DeBROFF earned his degree from Tufts University School of Medicine, where he was in the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society and received the Sandoz Award for academic excellence. He did his residency in ophthalmology at the Eye and Ear Institute of the University of Pittsburgh and a fellowship in anterior segment surgery at the Gimbel Eye Centre/University of Calgary.
The former director of cataract surgery and vice chair of the Yale Eye Center, Dr. DeBroff has written more than 100 articles on cataract/implant surgery. He pioneered the technique of optic capture, which has provided children with congenital cataracts the chance for a lifetime of vision. Besides patients with senile cataracts, he sees patients with complex and traumatic cataracts, dislocated implants or worsening vision after implant surgery. He has expertise in Toric and multifocal premium IOLs. He was inducted into the prestigious International Intra-Ocular Implant Club in 2008.
