DR. MARC EISEN treats patients who suffer from disorders of the ear. After graduating from Northwestern University, he earned his medical degree and Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. He completed his internship in general surgery and residency in otolaryngology there and did a fellowship in neurotology at Johns Hopkins University. He has won numerous awards for research from the American Academy of Otolaryngology and National Institutes of Health.
As one of the state’s few neurotologists, Dr. Eisen treats dizziness, cholesteatoma, acoustic neuromas, tumors of the lateral skull base, facial nerve, hearing loss and implantable hearing prostheses. Hearing aids, he notes, help people with moderate to severe hearing loss; the cochlear implant is an option for those with severe hearing loss, and the Baha can help people with deafness in one ear. “Hearing loss does not indicate disability,” he says. “We can help people who could not be helped 15 years ago because hearing-aid technology today is fantastic.”
