DR. MICHAEL J. FLANAGAN is the medical director for Urology Specialists, PC and a subinvestigator at the Connecticut Clinical Research Center. A graduate of Clark University in Worcester, Mass., he earned his medical degree from UMDNJ-Rutgers Medical School. He interned and did two years of his residency in general surgery at Waterbury Hospital before completing four years of training in urology at Temple University in Philadelphia. His confident and easygoing manner make patients feel relaxed with him. “No one likes to talk about incontinence and erections,” he says.
Dr. Flanagan joined Urology Specialists in 1992 and practices general urology, with special interests in robotic prostate surgery, female incontinence, urologic cancer, kidney stones and laparoscopic surgery for kidney removal. Over the past two years, he has performed close to 100 robotic surgeries for prostate cancer, the most in the midstate and Waterbury areas. He recalls that when he was a resident, doctors were just starting to do laparoscopic surgery for gallbladder removal and the procedure took three to four hours; now it can be done in less than an hour. “When I first saw the robot, I could easily see its potential advantages,” he says. Initially, there were concerns about cancer outcomes with robotic surgery, but those concerns have been addressed and currently yield equally curative results. While robotic surgery is not for everyone, he notes, and traditional surgery may be the best route for some patients, he says patients do recover more quickly from robotic surgery. “They have the same surgical outcome, but the majority spend just one night in the hospital,” he explains, because there is less surgical trauma with robotic surgery. Additionally, many patients experience earlier continence with robotic surgery. He adds that “our operating times and the outcomes are consistent with what’s seen across the country.” When caring for women, he partners with gynecologists to complement their care and help improve outcomes for patients.

I'm glad to see no. 7 is Dr Cohen. In my opinion he's no 1 but I have no way of judging the top 6. He operated on me in 2001 because I was high risk of getting colon cancer it was felt. I'm still here 11 years later doc! I'm fine w/respect to the surgery but do have an issue with a lumbar bone out of place and am dealing w/that now. Things are much better since I had the two Epidural shots. I get the third tommorow. You go Dr. Cohen!

I had a breast reduction last year, Dr. Smith performed the surgery. I am so happy with the results he is a great physician and surgeon he takes the extra time to ask you what your expectations are and is also very open about what to expect after surgery.

I had three babies delivered by dr. ronika choudhary in last 6 yrs. she is the best. i also had botox treatment done by her six months ago and it was faboulous. my husband and i love her. she truly cares for her patient and their well being.

Of course Dr. Petashnick! He is the most helpful, and the most friendly ophthalmologist in all of CT! He's number one!!! I tell everyone I know to go see him...Thank you Connecticut magazine!

Dr. Gary Price has gone above and beyond his call of duty . I have had several procedures done by him and wouldn't think of going to anyone else. He has done a complete face lift on me. Several laser treatments and a couple of touch up mini lifts. I'm considering having liposuction by him. If anyone out there is considering cosmetic work done you should definitely have a consultation with Gary Price.

Dr Gerstenhaber is the BEST Pulmonary
Doctor in the New Haven area. He is extremely smart and knows more than his specialty.
He is kind and compassionate and has a wonderful way of appropriately infusing humor into what can be
a tense situation...
I commend him for his tremendous work ethic and feel so grateful that he cared for each of my parents and now myself.
I can only say thank you for always being so available to us.

Dr. Neil Floch and the staff of Fairfield County Bariatrics have afforded me a second chance for a more active and healthier life. In June of 2011 at 68 yrs old Dr. Neil performed RNY Gastric Bypass at Norwalk Hospital and as of 10 mos post op I have lost 102 lbs and gain a second chance to enjoy life more fully. I left the hospital completely offm of the three type 2 diabetes meds I had been on for 12+ years. I wholeheartedly recommend Dr. Floch and Fairfield County Bariatrics and fully endorse the excellent level of care that I experienced both pre and post op and would urge anyone considering wls to them.
