DR. CHARLES HERRICK received his undergraduate degree from the University of Illinois and his medical degree from Southern Illinois University. He completed his internship in psychiatry and medicine and his residency in psychiatry at Tufts, as well as a fellowship in child psychiatry at the University of California, San Francisco. He is certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and currently serves as the chairman of the Department of Psychiatry at Danbury Hospital. He sits on the Behavioral Health Partnership Oversight Committee, which oversees mental health care for patients in Connecticut. Dr. Herrick emphasizes the importance of spending time with patients to understand whether medications are indicated. “With the increasing complexity of the various medications patients are taking for both medical and psychiatric reasons, it’s important to avoid overprescribing,” he says.
