DR. CAROLINE KURTZ graduated Phi Beta Kappa with Distinction in English literature from Swarthmore College before attending the New York University School of Medicine. She did her residency in internal medicine and her pulmonary fellowship at The Mount Sinai Hospital in New York and a critical care fellowship at Norwalk Hospital- Yale University and is board-certified in internal medicine, pulmonary disease and critical care medicine.
Dr. Kurtz enjoys her practice at Norwalk Pulmonary Consultants and marvels that ““each patient’s story is unique.” She adds, “The challenge is to synthesize what I’ve heard and then decide on the correct diagnosis and an individualized treatment plan.” She has a special interest in asthma and COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) and notes, “Once someone quits smoking, the accelerated rate of decline in lung function most often returns to that seen with aging alone. The key is to help smokers quit and to discourage people from starting to smoke.”
