DR. JEANNE MARIE MARCONI wanted to be a pediatrician since she was a child and her hospital volunteer work reinforced her desire. She attended Manhattan College and Universidad del Noreste de México before earning her degree from New York Medical College. She further trained in pediatrics at North Shore University Hospital and joined Pediatric Associates of Norwalk and Darien in 1991. The group later changed its name to The Center for Advanced Pediatrics to reflect its new broad array of comprehensive services. Under her guidance, it has grown and become a model for pediatric care.
The expanded practice reflects Dr. Marconi’s vision of bringing superior comprehensive health care to infants, children and young adults. The group provides a wide variety of services with pediatric and adolescent doctors, nurse practitioners, physician’s assistants, nutritionists, a clinical social worker, marriage and family therapist and CPR instructor. Her practice offers a breastfeeding support center, prenatal baby basics classes, preadoption meetings, screenings for postpartum depression and autism, asthma and allergy treatment, endocrine and diabetes specialists, pediatric psychiatric care and more. She is working to “deliver the recipe book” for the same quality care to patients as other practices enhance theirs or join TCFAP. The Norwalk office in the eco-friendly iPark is designed with separate sections for sick children, wellness visits, infants and adolescents. It also offers car-seat inspections, walk-in service and late-hour emergency care. Her practice has been testing children for cholesterol for the past eight years (far ahead of current recommendations), has a pediatrician specializing in children’s lipid disorders and offers family travel medicine for kids and adults. Recently, it opened The Concussion Center of Fairfield County, the area’s first comprehensive center dedicated to concussion management. She is proud that this practice model is being recognized throughout the country.
Dr. Marconi’s goals are to integrate health care, have all records available, foster easy communications and make comprehensive health care easily accessible for all family members. The fact that the staff truly cares is what she believes makes this all possible.
