DR. YOU SUNG SANG graduated cum laude from Columbia University with a double major in biology and psychology. After earning his medical degree from the Mount Sinai School of Medicine, he had additional training at Beth Israel Medical Center, where he did his internship and residency, and Nassau County Medical Center, where he completed his gastroenterology fellowship. He specializes in diagnosing colon cancer and treating inflammatory bowel disease.
Dr. Sang serves as medical director of the Eastern Connecticut Endoscopy Center, a freestanding ambulatory center that offers high-definition and capsule endoscopies to diagnose subtle lesions and precancerous conditions in more difficult-to-reach areas. He notes that major advances have “revolutionized treatment over the past decade” for Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. “These new modalities have also enabled us,” he adds, “to take care of even the toughest cases of familial colon cancer syndromes, and allowed these patients to lead normal lives.”
