DR. STEVEN S. SMITH realized plastic surgery was his calling when he observed Hartford Hospital doctors reconstructing the profiles of severely wounded craniofacial trauma patients while on rotation from Dartmouth Medical School. “It drew on so many complex surgical skills and challenges. It was completely life-changing for the patient. I was so intrigued; it changed the whole path I took in medicine,” he says.
Dr. Smith is a board-certified plastic surgeon and member of the Craniofacial Trauma Team at Hartford Hospital. He brings a broad range of surgical experience to reconstructive and aesthetic procedures of the face and body. In addition to offering popular cosmetic procedures such as face-lifts, abdominoplasty, rhinoplasty and Botox® injections, he has special expertise in hand and upper-extremity surgery. He uses those skills to repair problems such as carpal tunnel syndrome, nerve and tendon damage, broken bones and tumors. His more than 10 years of experience at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and the Connecticut Children’s Medical Center make him highly qualified to treat pediatric patients with those conditions as well as vascular and congenital abnormalities.
Dr. Smith is also deeply committed to his female patients seeking breast reconstruction following cancer surgery. As part of Hartford Hospital’s oncoplastic team, he works closely with these women and their oncologists to achieve the “best reconstructive outcomes with the best cancer care. The process of making these women feel whole and feminine again during a difficult time in their lives is very intense and rewarding,” he says.
Dr. Smith completed his surgical training at the University of Pennsylvania, including residencies in general surgery and plastic surgery and an orthopaedic fellowship in hand and upper extremity surgery. He is an assistant clinical professor of medicine in the Department of Surgery and Orthopaedics at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine. “It’s a privilege to get to do this every day,” Dr. Smith says of being a surgeon.

I'm glad to see no. 7 is Dr Cohen. In my opinion he's no 1 but I have no way of judging the top 6. He operated on me in 2001 because I was high risk of getting colon cancer it was felt. I'm still here 11 years later doc! I'm fine w/respect to the surgery but do have an issue with a lumbar bone out of place and am dealing w/that now. Things are much better since I had the two Epidural shots. I get the third tommorow. You go Dr. Cohen!

Dr. Gary Price has gone above and beyond his call of duty . I have had several procedures done by him and wouldn't think of going to anyone else. He has done a complete face lift on me. Several laser treatments and a couple of touch up mini lifts. I'm considering having liposuction by him. If anyone out there is considering cosmetic work done you should definitely have a consultation with Gary Price.
A grateful and satisfied patient

Dr Gerstenhaber is the BEST Pulmonary
Doctor in the New Haven area. He is extremely smart and knows more than his specialty.
He is kind and compassionate and has a wonderful way of appropriately infusing humor into what can be
a tense situation...
I commend him for his tremendous work ethic and feel so grateful that he cared for each of my parents and now myself.
I can only say thank you for always being so available to us.

Dr. Neil Floch and the staff of Fairfield County Bariatrics have afforded me a second chance for a more active and healthier life. In June of 2011 at 68 yrs old Dr. Neil performed RNY Gastric Bypass at Norwalk Hospital and as of 10 mos post op I have lost 102 lbs and gain a second chance to enjoy life more fully. I left the hospital completely offm of the three type 2 diabetes meds I had been on for 12+ years. I wholeheartedly recommend Dr. Floch and Fairfield County Bariatrics and fully endorse the excellent level of care that I experienced both pre and post op and would urge anyone considering wls to them.
