DR. DEAN WILLIS received his B.A. in natural science from Assumption College in Worcester, Mass. He considered going into psychiatry until he developed a fascination with surgery while at George Washington University School of Medicine, where he earned his degree and became a member of the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Society. He did his residency in general surgery at Yale-New Haven Hospital. Board-certified, Dr. Willis specializes in laparoscopic, breast and oncology surgeries and performs some pediatric surgery. He is part of a physicians’ association that is affiliated with Lawrence & Memorial Hospital. The multispecialty group includes family-practice doctors and obstetricians/gynecologists as well as a cardiologist and several surgeons who share information and coordinate their patients’ care. “The best part of it is the relationships that you develop over the years,” he says. “The reward is when patients or their families have other problems and they want to come back to see me.”
