\n\n In 1947\, the children of All Soul'\;s Church in Washington\, D.C. sent school supplies to child ren in Hiroshima\, Japan as a gesture of compassion and friendship. The ch ildren sent back pictures they had drawn with the art supplies to their fr iends at All Soul'\;s Church as an expression of thanks for the gift. T he pictures are bright and cheerful scenes of their everyday lives. They b etray none of the post-World War II hardships the Japanese children were e nduring\, and are a testament to the power of cross-cultural exchange and goodwill.
