\n\n With swelling lines a nd precise flecks\, Andrew Raftery uses the age-old technique of copper-pl ate engraving to create thoroughly contemporary scenes. In his series of f ive prints\, “Open House\,” the artist depicts a range of couples and fami lies viewing a house for sale. These prints are striking for both the exac ting process through which they were created--it took Mr. Raftery over six years to conceptualize and complete the series--and their subject matter\ , which avoids the dramatic in favor of a detailed interpretation of every day life. The exhibition includes architectural models\, figure models\, a nd over fifty working drawings. The result is an exquisitely detailed comm entary on contemporary definitions of home\, family\, and interpersonal re lations.
