\n\n ·\; \; \; \;&n bsp\; \; \; Ingram Marshall&rsquo\;s A New Haven Psalt er is a setting for choir and wind band of psalms by 18th-19 th century New Haven composer Daniel Read. This new composition was commis sioned specially for the Yale Concert Band and Yale Glee Club.
\n\n ·\; \; \; \; \; \;& nbsp\; Cole Porter (YC 1913) wrote his Yale fight songs &ndash\; < em>Bulldog\, Bingo\, and Whoop It Up &ndash\; 100 years ago\ , in 1912\, during his senior year at Yale.
\n\n ·\; \; \; \; \; \; \; Charles Ives (YC 1898) composed Variations on &ldquo\;Jerusalem the Golden &rdquo\; to recreate the performance practices of his father &rsquo\;s Union Army band. This performance\, with arrangement by former Y ale Band director Keith Brion\, will feature a brass quintet made up of Ya le School of Music students Jay Villella\, Robby Moser\, Zachary Quortrup\ , Kevin Dombrowski\, and Chris Brown. The Alcotts is a musical sketch of Bronson and Louisa May Alcott\, taken from the th ird movement from Ives&rsquo\;s Piano Sonata No. 2\, Concord\, Mass. 1 840-60\, and is transcribed for band by former Yale Band director Ric hard Thurston.
\n\n ·\; \;&nb sp\; \; \; \; \; George Gershwin wrote the &ldquo\;rhapsod ic ballet&rdquo\; An American in Paris after a 1 928 visit to Europe. Thomas C. Duffy conceived A Parisian in A merica as a response\, depicting a similarly eventful visit by a Parisian to New York City.
