 er</em></strong> is a setting for choir and wind band of psalms by 18th-19
 th century New Haven composer Daniel Read. This new composition was commis
 sioned specially for the Yale Concert Band and Yale Glee Club.</p>\n<p sty
 le='margin-left:22.5pt\;'>\n	&middot\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&
 nbsp\; Cole Porter (YC 1913) wrote his Yale fight songs &ndash\; <strong><
 em>Bulldog\, Bingo\, and Whoop It Up</em></strong> &ndash\; 100 years ago\
 , in 1912\, during his senior year at Yale.</p>\n<p style='margin-left:22.
 5pt\;'>\n	&middot\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\; Charles Ives
  (YC 1898) composed <strong><em>Variations on &ldquo\;Jerusalem the Golden
 &rdquo\;</em></strong> to recreate the performance practices of his father
 &rsquo\;s Union Army band. This performance\, with arrangement by former Y
 ale Band director Keith Brion\, will feature a brass quintet made up of Ya
 le School of Music students Jay Villella\, Robby Moser\, Zachary Quortrup\
 , Kevin Dombrowski\, and Chris Brown. <strong><em>The Alcotts</em></strong
 > is a musical sketch of Bronson and Louisa May Alcott\, taken from the th
 ird movement from Ives&rsquo\;s <em>Piano Sonata No. 2\, Concord\, Mass. 1
 840-60</em>\, and is transcribed for band by former Yale Band director Ric
 hard Thurston.</p>\n<p style='margin-left:22.5pt\;'>\n	&middot\;&nbsp\;&nb
 sp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\; George Gershwin wrote the &ldquo\;rhapsod
 ic ballet&rdquo\; <strong><em>An American in Paris</em></strong> after a 1
 928 visit to Europe. Thomas C. Duffy conceived <strong><em>A Parisian in A
 merica</em></strong> as a response\, depicting a similarly eventful visit 
 by a Parisian to New York City.</p>\n<p>\n	&hellip\;plus <em>Rocket Sleigh
