\n           The class will focus on the blues and blues pro gression in early and modern jazz styles. Dr. O’Neil will introduce beginn ing to intermediate guitarists to jazz improvisation\, style and harmony t hrough a close examination of the blues and its use as the foundation for early and modern jazz studies.  Examples and techniques from jazz greats w ill be covered and the use of the blues progression as a basis for other s tandards and tunes will be explored. A jam session will conclude the maste r class. In addition to teaching at Community Music School\, Kevin O’Neil is an adjunct professor at Tunxis Community College. As a performer\, he e njoys being a freelance guitarist and has recorded many CDs through the ye ars with Anthony Braxton\, Klezmer clarinetist David Krakauer\, saxophonis t Steve Lehman and others. The class is FREE\, however\, reservations are requested and students should bring a small practice amp with their guitar .
