\n This class is designed to make the student more comfortab le with painting the figure from life through the repetition of essential principles of color and composition. Its focus will be on creating a stron g sense of 3-dimensional forms by looking closely at proportions\, edges\, light effects\, and various methods of paint application. Instructor Holl is Dunlap will encourage a practical use of anatomy\, focusing on major an atomical landmarks\, allowing students to study the way that master painte rs model form and make color choices. Various aspects of the human body wi ll be compared to basic geometric shapes to give the painting a convincing sense of form as well as giving the student more confidence in painting c omplex figurative work. \n < strong>Instructor Bio: Hollis graduated from the Lyme Academy Col lege of Fine Arts in 1999. While at the Academy\, he was the first student artist to be awarded First Prize at New York's National Arts Club exhibit ion two years in a row. Hollis was also the recipient of the Academy's Joh n Stobart Fellowship\, awarded each year to a graduating student in recogn ition of outstanding work. In the winter of 2001\, Hollis studied at the N ational College of Art and Design in Dublin\, Ireland. Hollis is represent ed by galleries in New York\, Boston and San Francisco.
