\n The Choral Club of Clinton begins rehearsals for its spri ng concert on Tuesday\, March 5 at 6:45 p.m. at The United Methodist Churc h of Clinton\, located at 12 Commerce Street.
\n\n Founded in 1926\, the chorus welcomes all members of the community (high school age or olde r) who enjoy singing. Ability to read music is helpful\, but not required. Regular Tuesday evening rehearsals from 7:15-9:30 p.m. will continue at A ndrews Memorial Town Hall Auditorium in preparation for the spring concert on June 7.
\n\n The chorus is directed by Lars Gjerde\, who is a do ctoral candidate at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester\, New York\, where he has earned a Master’s Degree and Sacred Music Diploma. Mr. Gjerde received degrees in music and German from Augustana College of Liberal Ar ts in South Dakota and the Edvard Grieg Academy of Music in Norway. At Aug ustana\, Lars served as the Chapel Organist\, sang with the concert and ch amber choirs\, and accompanied choral and opera ensembles. He was Organist and Choir Director at First Methodist Church in Bergen\, Norway. Mr. Gjer de has performed around America and Europe\, and he has played on the Nati onal Public Radio show Pipedreams!. Since 2010\, he has served as Director of Music at Bethesda Lutheran Church in New Haven.
\n\n Th e Spring concert will feature a wide selection of music including spiritua ls and gospel\, Broadway medleys of Les Misérable and The Sou nd of Music\, and pieces by the Gershwin brothers\, Gabriel Fauré\, a nd Irving Berlin.
