\n WHAT: This February\, the Mashantucket Pequot Museum and Research Center laun ches Ramp It Up: Skateboard Culture in Native America\, an exhibi t celebrating the vibrancy\, creativity\, and history of American Indian s kateboarding culture. Ramp It Up reveals the underground world of skateboarding in Indian country and highlights the Native American skateb oarding culture of the West Coast. Originally on view at the Smithsonian's National Museum of the American Indian\, guests have the opportunity to w itness Ramp It Up\, showcasing a film\, 45 images including rare archival photos\, and several Native-designed decks and graffiti-backdrop panels by Native American artist Jak Fragua. One of the most popular sport s on Indian reservations\, skateboarding is a true phenomenon\, integratin g physical exertion with design\, graphic art\, videography\, and music.\n
