2013 Naugatuck Valley River Race & Beacon Falls Lions’ Duck Festival

Event Date/Time

May 4, 2013
11:00 am

Description

On Saturday, May 04, 2013 we are holding our yearly charity NVRR event -- The Naugatuck Valley River Race and Naugatuck River Festival -- along with The Beacon Falls Lions’ Charity Duck Race and The Taste of Beacon Falls events.

The family-friendly festival is free to attend and, for those interested in running the race, we are pleased to announce that we are now accepting registrations:  $25 Racer Donation or $30 Racers Donation with Official Race Shirt included.  All proceeds above and beyond the events operating costs are donated to local organizations that are contributing to the health of Naugatuck River and Valley charities.  Registration forms and event information can be found at http://www.4ctoutdoors.com/naugatuck-river/nvrr/

This year we celebrate all three events on one fun-filled day:  The Annual Kayak and Canoe Race, the Beacon Falls Lions’ Charity Duck Race, and the Annual Taste of Beacon Falls events all located at the River Festival grounds at the Beacon Falls Fire House on North Main Street at the Race's finish line. This is a great spectator event!

The Naugatuck Valley River Race has helped to foster renewed efforts to develop a safe Water Trail along the Naugatuck River.  In fact, the Naugatuck River Greenway Committee, in response to the success of the first race, added several boat launches into the proposed Greenway plans in each town along the route and have added additional events like this year’s 1st Naugatuck River Greenway Paddle Day (May 11th, 2013), a 12-mile non-competitive course from Thomaston to Waterbury.

The event brings racers and their families from all around New England to run the Naugy. As much as it is a race event, many will be paddling at there own pace -- but experienced paddlers only, as the Naugy at higher levels can be unforgiving.

Cost Free to attend, $25 for those who wish to participate in race
