At The Barn Sale in Hamden, Volunteers Keep on Dealing

Perhaps the reason The Barn Sale has endured for a half-century is that there’s no other place quite like it. The prices are reasonable for such a wide array of items. Besides, customers can feel good about supporting a place that donates 50 percent of its proceeds to local charities such as the Beardsley Zoo in Bridgeport and the Community Soup Kitchen in New Haven.

New Luxury Guesthouse Tall Tales Sprouts up at Saybrook Point Inn & Spa

The original plan was for the new, six-room boutique “beach house” in Old Saybrook to be a bit more diminutive than the elegant Three Stories next door. But flood elevations kept rising, necessitating engineering changes that resulted in a taller-than-expected building.

‘A Connecticut Summer Soiree’ ~ A Exhibition of Contemporary Waterways

Event Date/Time

Jul 16, 2013 to Aug 30, 2013

Description

‘A Connecticut Summer Soiree’ ~ A Exhibition of Contemporary Waterways

Troy Fine Art is pleased to announce  'A Connecticut Summer Soiree' our latest exhibition of works featuring select gallery artists: Jennifer Sabella, Marilyn Surani, Richard Bruce, Greg Gustafon, and R.J. Itcher. Both realistic and abstract waterways, the exhibition will reflect unique forms of water through painting, pastel and fine art photography, capturing a variety of coastal locations.

Marilyn Suriani’s thirty years of artistic experience has led her to a unique conceptual approach in her photography that often resembles a painting. One of her current studies includes a water series which expresses a vision of nature, accentuating mood from movement. Richard Bruce demonstrates his atmospheric interpretations of local coast lines in a dreamlike fashion. His acrylic paintings on panel convey his passion for impressionism and color-saturated horizons. Jennifer Sabellla created her own artistic vision by using a drip and etch technique to convey placid water through the intricate use of abstract lines. The soothing surfaces of the contemporary waterways will provide you with the rhythmic experience of ‘A Connecticut Summer Soiree.’
