Celebrating Cool Hand Luke and the Gang

Event Date/Time

Jan 24, 2013
6:00 pm until 10:00 pm

Description

Celebrating Cool Hand Luke and the Gang

The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp’s fourth annual Founder’s Day Celebration in honor of Paul Newman and the mission of The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp that he started 25 years ago will take place at Westport Country Playhouse on Thursday, January 24, 2013 at 6 p.m., featuring a special screening of Cool Hand Luke.

In 1988, Paul Newman founded The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp in Connecticut so that children coping with serious illnesses could have a special hideout where they could simply be kids. The Camp, which served 288 campers its first year, is celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2012-13 with 20,000 children and family members now experiencing “a different kind of healing” annually. All of the Camp’s services are free of charge.

"Each year, we come together as a Camp family to celebrate the remarkable vision of our Founder Paul Newman. In this, our 25th anniversary year, it seems especially fitting to do so with a screening of Cool Hand Luke featuring Paul in one of his most celebrated roles,” said The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp Chief Executive Officer James Canton. “This special evening will highlight the values of kindness, compassion and generosity that Paul held most dear and that are brought to life each day at The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp.”

Doors open at 6 p.m., with the program beginning at 7 p.m. at Westport Country Playhouse located at 25 Powers Court in Westport, Conn. Individual tickets for “Celebrating COOL HAND LUKE and the Gang” cost $100 each and include complimentary concessions. Sponsorship packages are available and include advertisement opportunities and a pre-screening reception at the Dressing Room. To purchase tickets or sponsorship packages, contact Amanda Garbatini at (203) 772-0522 x 22 or amanda.garbatini@holeinthewallgang.org or visit http://www.holeinthewallgang.org/luke. All proceeds benefit The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp and help to underwrite its services for seriously ill children.
