Figure Sculpture Class with Don Gale
Oct 18, 2013 to Nov 15, 2013
1:00 pm until 4:00 pm
This event occurs weekly on Friday.
The theme of this course is to generate a complete understanding of sculpting the human figure. The class begins with the construction of a seated or standing armature which is a structural framework to apply either oil base or water base clay. Weekly demonstrations are presented providing a systematic approach to modeling a sculptured figure. Proportions, modeling techniques and anatomy are explored with emphasis on gesture and composition. The student will model one 24”or size of your choosing to create a sculpture from a female model. There will be one pose for 5 sessions. Individual critiques will be given. In addition, once the student has constructed a basic figure various finishing techniques will be discussed.
Various sculptors will be introduced to the class from old to contemporary masters to show the many methodologies in sculpting the human form.
