Tickets are now available for INSPIRE, a tapestry of voices united in song, presented by the Connecticut Choral Society, the state's premier singing ensemble.
The two concerts will take place on Saturday, May 18, 8:00 pm at the First Congregational Church in Danbury, and on Sunday, May 19, 3:00 pm at the Congregational Church in Naugatuck.
Maestro Eric Knapp will lead the ensemble's 75 auditioned voices in singing Schubert's epic Mass in G, Durufle's lovely Ubi Caritas, Mozart's elegant Laudate Dominum, Rutter's Gaelic Blessing, Vaughan Williams' powerful Antiphon, Gabriel's Oboe (the theme song from "The Mission") and Rutter's Dona Nobis Pachem (from Mass of the Children). In addition, Rick Ryan, a tenor and composer-in-residence of CCS, has written an original arrangement of What Wondrous Love is This, a haunting Appalachian hymn from the 1800’s.
Megan Knapp (soprano), Kirt Dougherty (tenor) and Keith Harris (baritone) are the featured soloists. Mr. Harris has sung with the Metropolitan Opera and has appeared on the stages of Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center.
