Landscape Painting - Hollis Dunlap, instructor
Jul 1, 2014 to Sep 2, 2014
1:00 pm until 4:00 pm
This event occurs weekly on Tuesday.
Outdoor painting can be an extremely inspiring and rewarding experience. This class will focus on achieving a strong composition and sense of light in the painting. With this in mind, students will be encouraged to use a relatively simple palette and work on smaller canvases in order to more quickly capture fleeting light effects. You will work to achieve interesting compositions, and learn to mix color rather than using pre-mixed "tones" in order to achieve color harmony. In the spirit of classical painters such as John Constable, Isaac Levitan, and George Inness, emphasis will be placed on accurate drawing, subtle color, and clear decision making in regards to shapes and paint application, along with a love for the primal beauty of the landscape.
