NYC Art Tour: Sacred Spaces
Oct 16, 2013
10:00 am until 1:00 pm
With its exceptional and compact array of diverse spiritual spaces, New York City offers an extraordinary opportunity to explore the architecture of these sacred places. Some of the city’s famous and lesser known, but equally affecting, spiritual venues will be visited on this tour. The social history of each spot will be discussed, with the primary focus being how each religion/philosophy has designed its space to tap into all your senses and create a theater for profound experience. Tour guide Anne Bolin, Ph.D. is a specialist in 19th century art and culture, and currently a professor of Art History at Sacred Heart University.
There are two sections to this tour, 9/25 and 10/16. Participants can select one or both.
Bring a camera, and please wear comfortable walking shoes.
Students will be notified of the location to meet by email; please provide your email address at time of registration.
