Performance: “Not What Happened” by Obie Award Winner Ain Gordon

Event Date/Time

Jun 22, 2013
7:30 pm until 9:00 pm

Description

Performance: “Not What Happened” by Obie Award Winner Ain Gordon

Ain Gordon’s new contemporary theatre piece investigates the notion of place as it relates to forgotten histories. Not What Happened is a theatrical duet for two people who can never meet: a historical re-enactor in period costume and the figure from history she re-enacts. The audience members become tourists visiting a deteriorating historic site where they are led on a guided tour by the historical re-enactor.  Projected images of rural landscapes by photographer and historian Forrest Holzapfel, become intrinsically connected to Gordon’s theatrical exploration of early New England life. Funded in part by the Expeditions program of the New England Foundation of the Arts, made possible with funding from the National Endowment for the Arts, with additional support from the six New England state arts agencies.

A discussion will follow Saturday's performance with Ain Gordon and Forrest Holzapfel.

Seating is limited, advance reservations are suggested.
