The Rust'd Keys
Jul 14, 2013
3:00 pm until 4:00 pm
Connecticut’s premiere acoustic duet, The Rust’d Keys: Diane Kozikowski and Dave Downs perform pop standards from the 1930, the 40’s, the 50’s and 60’s, and into the new millennium. Irving Berlin’s Blue Skies, Fats Waller’s Ain’t Misbehavin, and Ink Spots I Don’t Want to Set the World on Fire are a few of the old standards the duet puts their unique stamp on. On the other side of the spectrum are songs by Natalie Merchant, The Crowes, Melanie Safka and Adele Adkins. This duet describes their musical style as “Nouveau Croon,” blending early jazz/pop influences with modern acoustic sensibilities. An evening with The Rust’d Keys includes something for everyone, and can perhaps best be described as a loving tribute to American popular music.
